Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization is a biomechanical assessment and treatment strategy geared to detect the quality of how joints are stabilized during any movement.  Motor control is the process by which humans use their brain to activate and coordinate the muscles and limbs involved in the performance of a motor skill.  DNS gives us the strategy to gauge how well you move by analyzing your level of motor control and how well you can stabilize your joints during a variety of movements.  The movements we use to analyze your motor control quality are derived from Developmental Kinesiology principles. Which means we use movement analysis techniques that resemble movement patterns we went through as babies when we developed from new born all the way up to walking and squatting.    The most fascinating phenomenon in baby development is that all the correct movement patterns are already programmed in the baby’s brain. Most babies don’t have to be taught how and when to turn, sit, crawl and walk and yet they all do it the same way, roughly at the same age, and with perfect stabilization patterns.  Therefore, we use DNS to treat and rehabilitate our injured patients because we are activating pre-programed movement that is already stored in your brain, it just needs to be updated, just like software.
